Mary Macs, the Fox Theatre, and the Georgia Aquarium

We had a wonderful Sunday, thanks to a lovely birthday gift from my family.

First on the agenda was lunch at the historic Atlanta restaurant Mary Mac's Tea Room.
It was wonderful as usual, despite a couple of panhandlers.

Next we went up the street and around the corner to the Fox Theatre. We saw the Wizard of Oz and it was fabulous! The music, orchestra, performers, costumes, lighting, etc. were all great. "Atlanta's Fox Theatre, originally the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque, was designed in the late 1920's as headquarters for the 5,000-member Shriners organization," according to their website.

These pictures are from inside the Fox. I couldn't take pictures during the performance, although all these were taken without flash.

We popped by the Aquarium after the theater. It was crowded at first, but the crowds went away soon enough. I got to admire my favorite thing there, the beluga whales. They have Niko, a male, and three females. They look like marshmallows, only longer.

Thank you to all who contributed to this grand day!

What Catalogers do in their spare time!

LibraryThing is fun and free -- I've entered a portion of my books into this database, and given them general tags like astrology, alternative medicine, and/or gardening. It's easy to enter, and then my books are linked to other people's books. I can see who has any particular book, or who has a collection closest to mine.

Here's the address of my LibraryThing (I can't figure out how to make this a hyperlink):

http://www.librarything.com/catalog/sandbar

Someday, when I run out of things to do, I'll give them $25 and add the rest of my books.

The Test Cake

My ever faithful helper and I made 2 separate chocolate cake recipes for the all important test. Our test panel of four experts (one of which has only 3 years of experience) chose the winning cake.

See the empty bottle of vanilla? It is now part of a rocket.
